Privacy policy

Your accounting data stays on your own computer. This page says exactly what we do receive, and why.

Who we are

DataWise Limited, Browns Bay, Auckland, New Zealand. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we never receive

  • Your accounting data. The Connector copies your company into a database on your own computer. It is not sent to DataWise, and we hold no copy.
  • Your MYOB, Xero or Intuit password. You sign in on their own screen.
  • Your questions to Claude. They pass between your computer and Anthropic under your own Claude account.

What the Connector sends us, and why

To check your licence, the Connector sends our licensing server:

  • the company file’s identifier and name
  • the contact name and email address you registered
  • the Connector’s version and the name of the computer it runs on
  • how many syncs have run since the last check
  • whether the company signs in with its own developer key or ours
  • a licence key or email-verification code, when you enter one

We use this to bill the right licence and to support you. Nothing else is sent.

To tell you about new versions, the Connector reads small version files from our website. It sends nothing of yours.

What stays on your computer

  • Your company’s data, in the folder you choose.
  • The sign-in tokens that let the Connector keep your copy current. You can withdraw them at any time from inside MYOB, Xero or QuickBooks.

Our website

When you ask for a trial or contact us, the form collects your name, company, email address, phone number, country, which accounting product you use, and anything you choose to tell us. We use it to send you the Connector and to talk to you about it. We add you to release news only if you tick the box.

What we do with it

  • We use it only to run your licence, support you, and — if you asked — tell you about releases.
  • We do not sell it or share it with anyone for marketing.

Seeing or correcting what we hold

Ask us and we will show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete what we do not need to keep. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
